A great source of information concerning the needed chinchilla airflow through the cage. Continue reading

For every pet we own we must know that it requires special attention, in our case chinchilla dust is the answer for the lovely creatures. It is a well known fact that chinchillas can be easily found in the South African part and they are pretty demanding creatures. In order to take good care of them you must have knowledge of their body structure and the things needed to keep them fresh and healthy. The common face of a chinchilla is very similar to one of a squirrel but as we already said they can come with a lot of surprises. Although its exterior is a lot like a squirrel there are some huge differences between them. In order to take good care of a chinchilla you must be prepared to get a lot of information and have patience.

The happy owner

If you are the happy owner of a chinchilla then the first thing when you set up the ‘living’ place is that you have to make sure that the actual space where chinchilla can move is bigger than a normal cage. This requirement comes from the fact that chinchillas feel the need to run and to be agile all times and by buying them a bigger cage you’ll make the first step for supplying them joy and a healthy life. Another well known fact is that chinchillas need exercises and this will also be covered by the large cage. Temperature is another problem with which you might face when you build or buy a cage. Balanced temperature works the best! An extreme temperature can affect your chinchilla by even taking it to die because of a heatstroke. You may wonder … why a heatstroke? Well the answer is quite simple, as a chinchilla never sweats and its body temperature continues to rise, condition that might be aggravated by a small cage and insufficient air flow through the cage.

In a future post we will continue with the needs for chinchilla dust, stay tuned!

As chinchillas are agile and fast moving little pets, the dust bath will help improve their organism, they’ll love to move through all that chinchilla dust. Making a lot of movement inside cage their fur will get a little greasy and this will make your chinchilla really desperate to take a dust bath. Don’t refuse this! A dust bath will help your chinchilla to remove any dirt on his skin and also will get them to feel comfortable and relaxed. In the summer season a chinchilla can be happy with just one dust bath but when winter arrives and temperatures are low you might consider giving your chinchilla two baths to maintain it healthy and happy.

Don’t let a smoker close to chinchillas!

If you are having a smoking person inside your house or inside your apartment then you also should consider that the cigarette’s tare may land on your chinchilla’s fur and it is going to attach on it for sure. As a chinchilla often checks his fur by linking it, that tar can prove to be really dangerous for the cute creature. By doing a dust bath at that moment you will remove any possible issues or diseases that such a bad event can cause. When you take your chinchilla to make a relaxing dust bath you can improve the pets pleasure by inserting other lovely smelling ingredients into the dust.

Experts suggest that your chinchilla should be fine with just a dust bath per week but as the weather is getting colder you should do them more baths. If you have a chinchilla that recently had babies then under any circumstances you must not give it a bath for two weeks. By doing this you will avoid them to get any kind of infection. Well, the new born chinchillas have no restriction to such a thing, so they can enjoy taking dust baths.

Chinchilla care is a top priority for every one of us that owns a special pet like a chinchilla. Chinchilla skin is very different from many of other pets, they do not have pores thorugh which they sweat. A dust bath is like a top priority for them, so assure this very important thing for the little creatures.

It is a well known thing that chinchillas love to take dust baths in ash that comes from volcans. If your chinchilla will miss dust baths then this will affect your pet. You might find it acting weirdly or even irritated. Don’t bath them with normal water, they often get sick as in their bodies water particles will enter.

Chinchilla dust is a little accessory that will bring the best out of your little pet and every owner should take this dust as an important thing of which chinchilla can’t survive long.
